June 5 2009-Coming of Age: 25 Years of American Art at the Huntington

To celebrate the newly completed reinstallation of the Virginia Steele Scott Galleries, the Huntington is hosting a one-day symposium featuring talks by leading scholars of American art.  The speakers will take a variety of approaches to discuss the development and rich history of American art across media, historical period, subject, and style.  Topics will relate to the dynamic collection of American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts as it has developed at the Huntington over the past 25 years.
